I never went to school. I was home-schooled by my atheist parents, and they never enforced any kind of curriculum on me. You might say I was "un-schooled."

At this point in my life, I like to think I'm just about as well-educated and well-adjusted as anyone else my age, and not despite being an un-schooled atheist, but because of being an unschooled atheist. Thus, I think Twilight Sparkle nailed the gist of what I have to say right on the head.

People are different. No single system can accommodate everyone.

I have very mixed but mostly negative feelings about home school. Your case seems to be different but the vast majority of home school kids are from religious families that don't wish their precious spawn being exposed to anything they disapprove of, mostly things like science and sex ed. Worse it means the kid grows up only socializing with other kids that their parents 'approve' of. No risk of confronting strangers or people from other social strata. (And no having the kid join little league of 4h doesn't cut it)

Yeah, well fundamentalist christian white supremacists spoil everything, not just homeschooling. But, I can appreciate the negative association you've developed.

well i tried both home school and public school and droped out because there were alot of stuff i didn't want to learn about(so i am pretty much learning stuff by myself both online and offline with books and documentaries on topics i like learning about) or need to because its nothing relating to what i am going to do to earn money which is doing videos and livestreams of things relating to films, animation, comics, video games, literature, and music thats are pickups, unboxing, gameplay, reaction, readings literature and comics, and reviews(which thats pretty much what i am doing now except the money part and enjoy doing it) and i refuse to do any unwanted jobs

and you are characterizinjg Twilight very well: a smart witty curious but aware pony, one that seems keen to take the implications and full realities of situations into account...

unlike some pony else I used to know...

When I was writing this, I was just going off what I saw of her in The Ticket Master, Bridle Gossip and Feeling Pinkie Keen. Specifically, a Twilight who learned from those experiences, which she would, because that's an important point of the show.

I'm loving your comments, by the way. I want you to know that even if I don't reply to all of them. :D

how about that...

your fan fic has just made a completely logical and intelligent divergence from canon in Twilight sparkle's characterization...

i'm sure this came before the princess thing but even if it didn't its still a wiser road to walk than "get magic, get wings = must have crown and title" (*Balk*)

So, like us, griffons get "grey hair" as they grow older?

Speaking of "Gandalf", if Nahmat thinks that this griffon wizard is a phony, why is he telling a convincing background story on himself? If he's not who he says he is, it's certainly a REALLY elaborate hoax worthy of Hollywood acting!

Makes me wonder who's playing the role of the deceiver here... :/

Mostly every school year, I would go to school for some months or days, then the stress would get to me and I would do home-schooling instead.

Props to you! Though who knows? Maybe they'll ask for a chance to try public school at some point, and in that case...

I guess what I'm trying to say is that people need to have options, and that includes public school. I don't think it's a very good option, but hey, that how I am.

Yeah, I have great amounts of "yuck" for public school, and so did my boyfriend. Mostly because it didn't have a lot of freedom as I would have wished.
I actually was homeschooled for a bit, but it didn't work as quite as well as my parents hoped.

There actually is starting to be a surge in homeschooling these days because of how sucky public schooling is.

Having been home-schooled, I have to say go for it. the only complaint I ever got was people thinking I would get lonely but soccer and other events make up for that.

Yeah, that's what everyone is concerned about when it comes to home schooling/unschooling, they think it would mean they get unsocialized.

One of the things I learned while getting my bachelor's of Education was that everyone learns differently. Some do best with one on one. Some (like me) learn well by watching other people. Some do best with written information. Some learn best by experimenting on their own. My brother is a genius at business, but isn't inclined to sit in ridiculously expensive lectures all day. (He's looking to start his own business.) Count yourself fortunate to have had educated parents who could teach well!

I'm thinking Garret is our bad-guy, but that it's more complicated than that.

That was a great comic and I feel you are right about the schooling. Also people that are home schooled statistically have retained more than people that went to an institution. Looking forward to the next page this is getting good.

Arofa, consider yourself lucky. the schooling system here in the states is flawed beyond belief. it is out of date and needs revision but no one in our government cares because 75% of kids make it through. all they see are results and not how the results are made. I was home schooled for 3 years, only went back so i could become more social...worst mistake ever...except for meeting my now wife there....

and....GAH can't wait till next page!!!!

If i remember right not alot of griffins in equestria practice magic. and nat said the bad guy jumped her world and turned into a griffin.
And from what i Leonard from watching fma:brotherhood always expect the unexpected. The sweet little boy on fma i cryed for him because his step-dad was a monster and the family didn't know it. turns out the little boy is a monster too. I was MAD! lol it's a good show... you know what i'm going to go watch it after this comment :)
but any way thats why expect the unexpected, i mean the guy is in four panels. #4. #5. #6 and the last one.
buy at the same time i could be wrong but i'm going to keep tabs on the guy from here on out :)

I was home-schooled most of my life. Worked out great! But now I am going to a public high school... and it's not working out great. :(
Too much work, darn it! I learned better just by reading a book on a topic, not doing hundreds of worksheets and listening to a teacher babble on and on and on... I miss being home-schooled.
