Looks like Nahmat's beginning to learn something. Though whatever it is, it seems to be too late for her.

Oh, wow that was a heavy scene. I love Celestia's facial expressions throughout this entire exchange. They pretty much say what she's going through as she's being forced to realize this horrible truth about herself.

no, not rage quit... just sadly sees that habit and delusion run too deep for one voice to sway it...

just like how I would have ranted and accused over Twilight's princess status, because i wanted to be proven wrong... something tells me I'd end up where Nahmat is now... tired, broken, alone, and leaving the mess that I cant get the others to not walk into... only able now to save my self...

I've done everything i can, There are no heroes left in man." - lyrics by The Protomen

I... I can't tell you how much this exchange affected me. It's all so true, and hits on the parts of MLP:FiM that have bothered me even from the beginning. I love the show, I'm very glad it exists... but this is what Celestia needs to hear in the show and probably never will because of how it is constructed, and for what audience.

I'm glad she gets to hear it here, at least, and pray it moves her at least as much as it moved me.

Now to dry my eyes so I can see the next page more clearly.

Light and laughter,
SongCoyote

It wasn't like Nat wanted the princess to learn something like she is wiser then her or anything because she isn't. Her feelings were real, how would you feel if someone tried to KILL you because they face the truth.

I didn't mean it like that.
Nahmat's own greatest flaw is that she always overthinks things. She always thinks everything through what makes everything really difficult. I hoped that she now finally acted purely on impulse from her heart without having any kind of thought out plan for it.

Nahmat's own greatest flaw wasn't her over-thinking things, her weakness was that her mind-set contradicted the way she was thought magic, to always keep an open mind. Nahmat couldn't see the possibilities that lie before her, even though this was a plan of hers (kind of) her flaw still sticks out. Her flaw is that she is quick to judge others that are not within her understanding, even with this plan to prove herself wrong she is still in a closed minded state, only seeing what she wants to see. She is thinking "Celestia is neglectful to her subjects? she must be punished,GGRRRR I'm angry". What she wants to see is the truth that is in her head, not the truth that really there.

as far as her outburst being a "plan ", its implied as more of a hope that she had then a thought out action.  She wanted to be proven wrong not because she planned to push Celestia to the breaking point, it was a hope that she had because the entire day she was in equestria she was unexpectedly proven wrong by the ponies she came across.  She was just hoping that the record would be set straight with her own opinion of Celestia like the other times that she found something to be one way when it was proven to be in reality another way.

Nahmat's seems pretty open minded to me. She does have opinions about things but she very easily admits that she was wrong about something. She always wants to prove her opinion and someone who has a closed mind doesn't want to listen to anything that goes against their opinion. Nahmat never seems to do that, she immediately accepts being wrong if it's proven.
Also, that Celestia is neglectful of her subjects is not something I remember her saying. Nahmat said a lot of things about her; being incompetent, being arrogant, being foolish, being ungrateful and all kinds of other things. However I don't remember her saying that she was neglectful.

I understand that part of it. However it's her habit of always having those secondary motives that makes everyone so suspicious of her. I think if she tried to simply be more open and also a little bit more simple about her  feelings she wouldn't make everything so difficult. I was hoping she did it because she truly felt like she should set it straight, not to get some kind of reaction out of her.

One thing I really blame Celestia for though is not letting Nahmat speak. I totally understand the conclusion she drew from the evidence that Garret is real but she should listen to what Nahmat has to say about it. Just because Nahmat's story wasn't entirely correct doesn't mean that Garret's version the correct one. Also it's wrong that she called Nahmat a liar. Nahmat is sneaky and can withhold information but she has never lied. That's one thing she hasn't done, ever.

I don't think you're are digging deep enough...

like i said, it wasn't a secondary motive.  IT. WAS. A. HOPE. or an expectation of Nahmat for the princess to prove her wrong. get that out of your head....NOW

Nahmat wasn't being sneaky, she didn't even know much about her own situation let alone equestria's. her lack of knowledge about who garret and if he was real or not and how Gralo was really hiding his form proves that.

(btw, the reason she was close minded in a sense was because she did not want to accept any possibilities about garret telling the truth, she was more focused on her anger for Gralo and the painful justice she felt he deserved.)

As far as Nahmat saying Celestia was being incompetent, being arrogant, being foolish, being ungrateful... well... yeah your right, but about her having a secondary motive, it was a Hope or expectation of hers

Wow. That speech was just great! I really like how it tied in all the past parts of the story on this page.

I also want to let you know you spelled "wrong" wrong on panels 5 and 7 (worng and wong). I couldn't help but laugh at the irony of that sentence :D. Also, it should be "... prove to me" on panel 10.

Eeehh... Nahmat might be leaning a little bit towards the Mary Sue side of the spectrum. Not that she's overly perfect. But in that she gets to talk so much shit, and everyone just hangs their heads like she's immediately right. At this point, it also seems like she's forgotten about her mission, and isn't using as much logic to prove Gralo's presence, or even steer the conversation towards that topic.

I see it in a different way... I think her feelings just got the better of her. She tried to show proof by teaching Cadence and Shinning Armor the Insight. She tried to tell Celestia when she showed those papers of Garret, but she was arrested at the spot and had to listen to Celestia telling her only friends (Shinning Armor and Cadence) that they shouldn't be ashamed of trying to give Nahmat the benefit of the doubt and she was the one who should be ashamed of abusing their trust (all with that "Dumbledore-wiser-than-thou" expression).

In Nahmat's place, I'd be fucking pissed off.

So, Nahmat's feelings got the better of her and she just put the whole Gralo thing aside for a moment, furious at Celestia as she was.
She told Celestia off for her mistakes because she wanted Celestia to believe her, but Celestia just seem to not want to listen (Cadence and Shinning Armor even confirmed that they could see Gralo, but she dismissed it as Nahmat tricking them). She hoped that Celestia would at least listen to her or, as she said, prove her wrong and show her that she could change and apologize for her mistakes.

As for her talking shit and getting away with it, she already showed she is quite strong (not as powerful as Celestia, but still strong) and she held everypony down so she could talk to Celestia without interference.
My idea is that Celestia was too shocked and nervous when Nahmat started to show her mistakes to react (after all, Nahmat put her claw on the injury) and when she did, she did by hitting Nahmat (and that broke her neck, for a moment, she was dead).
I guess that when Nahmat just stood up everypony else was too shocked to react (after all, she was like dead for a second) and now that things calmed down, she is leaving. Is not an easy situation, I guess no pony knew exactly how to act and I BET not one, EVER talked to Celestia like that.
